Overland Track

The Overland Track is one of Australia's most famous bush walks, situated in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania. More than 8000 walkers each year complete the track. Officially, the track runs for 65km from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair. However, many choose to add the hike along Lake St Clair as a natural extension, bringing the length to 74km. The track winds through terrain ranging from sheer mountains, temperate rainforest, wild rivers and alpine plains all in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

World-renowned for its pristine environment and beauty, the walk has been compared to New Zealand's Milford Track.

Walkers complete the trail in 5-6 days. This is normally done from north to south, which is the mandatory direction between November 1 and April 30.

There are bushwalker’s huts located at each of the five overnight stops on the Overland Track. Also at each overnight stop is a rainwater tank, camping platforms, other campsites and a fly-out bushwalker’s toilet. Each hut has long sleeping platforms and communal cooking and eating areas with benches and tables. There is no food, cooking utensils, cooking stoves, mattresses or bedding available at the huts.

The huts (with sleeping capacity and AGD GPS co-ordinates) from north to south, are:

The Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park

The Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park forms part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (WHA) declared in 1982.

http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=2494

Cradle Mountain forms the northern end of the wild Cradle Mt - Lake St Clair National Park. Lake St Clair is at the southern end of the Cradle Mountain.

The sheer magnificence of Cradle Mountain inspired Austrian-born Gustav Weindorfer to build a chalet of King Billy pine here in 1912 and work tirelessly for a decade to have the area declared a national park "for the people for all time". His dream was realised in 1922, and today a quarter of all visitors to the state travel here to share his vision.

Take one of the many short walks through the ever-changing vegetation of the shores and mountainside to gain a full appreciation of the magic of this area.

Updates

I'm go to put up some of the info I've found here.

Web development Project

During the holiday, I spent 4 days creating the web site for my web development project. The web site has to have at least 5 pages. We need to use DWT for page layout, CSS for styling, use navigating links, images, tables and list. We also need to use HTML form elements. My web site was on Cradle mountain. That's why I started collecting all the info about Cradle Mountain.
